Statue of Liberty Closed During Government Shutdown

The Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island are closed to visitors due to the government shutdown.

Many tourists say they had no idea until they went to buy tickets.

The federal government shut down at midnight Friday and because of that,  the National Parks Service said Lady Liberty is closed until further notice.

Visitors with tickets were directed to statuecruises.com for refunds. Harbor cruise tours would be available until the government shutdown is resolved.
