Tim McGraw’s decades-long career is packed with tons of hit songs, and the country giant recently opted to take a walk down memory lane. McGraw watched a few of his old music videos and shared his reaction on Tuesday (January 22).

McGraw started with “Down On The Farm,” which released in 1994 on his second studio album, Not A Moment Too Soon. “I sound like a teenager!” McGraw exclaimed at the start of the video. He explained that he filmed this one “after I’d had some success and everything was sort of blowing up,” and selected Po’ Boy Don’s Corner in Louisiana as the music video set. McGraw credited the owner as an “instrumental” part of his success, noting that Don sent him money to record a demo session, which ended up landing him a record deal. “That was a blast,” McGraw said as the music video continued. He admitted: “I can’t get over how young I sounded in it. Kinda glad my voice changed a little bit.”

Next was “She’s My Kind of Rain,” the 2002 hit from seventh studio album, Tim McGraw and the Dancehall Doctors. “This is me trying to be GQ,” McGraw said with a laugh. “Country GQ, I guess. I’m trying to be cool… I felt like I was cool for a little bit. Now, looking back at it, maybe I wasn’t so cool.”

The last video McGraw reflected on was “Humble and Kind,” one of his favorite songs he’s ever recorded. It was released on his 14th studio album, Damn Country Music, in 2015. McGraw shared how the song — and video — resonates with him:

“We knew this song was special, and it was one of my favorite songs I’ve ever recorded. I knew when we did the video we had to figure out some way to really make it special. And then I see this trailer for this special that Oprah Winfrey was doing about the world and people and different cultures, and I’m like, ‘that’s what this song represents to me,’ is the unity that the world has and how people from all different cultures and all different walks of life can come together and celebrate humanity. I thought, ‘boy, that’s the way I want this video to look.’ So, Tyler Perry, who’s a good friend of mine — he was one of the sweetest, kindest human beings I’ve ever met in my life — I called him up and I said, ‘I’m gonna sent you a song. Oprah’s got this thing out and I’d love to use some footage if I possibly could.’ So, I sent him the song, and he called me back and he was crying on the phone about how wonderful the song is, and he said, ‘I just sent it to Oprah. I hope you don’t mind.’ And she said, ‘you can have any of the footage that you want,’ and I think it’s just one of the most beautiful videos that we’ve ever shot.”

McGraw spoke further about “Humble and Kind,” opening up about what it’s like to see it resonate with audiences. He also said it was the last song he recorded on the album because “I didn’t wanna mess it up.” Songwriter Lori McKenna wrote it as a love letter to her kids, McGraw said, and “it was such a beautiful song.”

The country hitmaker has tons of other music videos, and he encouraged fans to drop suggestions in the comments of others for McGraw to watch: “This wasn’t as painful as I thought, so I might try it again.” See his reactions here:
