Quavo gave his honest opinion about Vice President Kamala Harris during her first presidential rally in his hometown.
On Tuesday night, July 30, the Atlanta rapper officially endorsed the Democratic candidate during his opening remarks at Georgia State University's convocation center. During his speech, Quavo mentioned his mission to reduce gun violence in his city, and his work with the vice president to achieve his goal.
"You can't understand the struggles of gun violence if you not in the field or in the heart of it," Quavo said. "So one thing I learned about working with Vice President Harris is that she always stands on business."
"From inviting me to the White House last year to discuss these solutions to passing the biggest gun safety laws today," Quavo continued. "So it's only right in the birthplace of the culture, it's also the same place to launch the first African-American woman to run for president."
Quavo and Vice President Harris first connected on the gun safety issue last year when the "Greatness" rapper and members of the Rocket Foundation visited Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. After they met with several members of Congress, Quavo met with the vice president to lay out his plans for the foundation's initiatives as a tribute to his late nephew TakeOff, who was shot and killed in Houston in 2022. They teamed up again earlier this year to launch the first-ever Rocket Foundation Summit on Gun Violence Prevention.
"Yeah we changing the culture again," Quavo concluded. "So if you've never voted before, make sure you get out and vote right now because this is the real one. And in the words of my brother Takeoff, let me get a 'KAMALA!'"
VP Harris made sure to keep the spirit of Migos alive during her speech. While she addressed her opponent former president Donald Trump, Harris used an infamous line from their 2018 hit "Walk It Talk It" to talk about his stance on securing the border.
“Donald Trump, on the other hand, has been talking a big game about securing our border. But he does not walk the walk," she said. "Or as my friend Quavo would say, he does not walk it like he talks it.”
Quavo stepped to the podium shortly after Megan Thee Stallion wrapped up her stunning performance at the rally. See his entire speech below.
