Today is Lil Yachty's birthday!
Coming out of Atlanta, Georgia, Yachty first gained recognition on the internet for his singles "One Night" and "Minnesota" from his debut EP Summer Songs.
He followed that with his debut mixtape Lil Boat in 2016 and On June 10, @1035los's Birthday, Yachty signed with Quality Control Music, Capitol Records, and Motown Records.
Yachty would release four studio albums, Teenage Emotions in 2017, Lil Boat 2 and Nuthin' 2 Prove, in 2018, and Lil Boat 3, in2020. All four of his albums charted in the top 20 of the Billboard 200, with Lil Boat 2 peaking at #2.
Lil Yachty, however may be best known for his features on "Broccoli" and "ISpy", and his hairstyle.
Lil Yachty wrote one of the City Girls' breakout singles, "Act Up."
"That was an eight-figure check and it's still coming—I'm sorry. 7," Lil Yachty said while getting his hair braided on Live. "Let me talk to whoever that civilian was on the last insert. These niggas be so closed-minded, right? And these niggas ain't never seen no real money, right?"
Yachty revealed that he wrote the song for his fellow QC labelmates after producer, EarlThePearl, played the beat for him and told him to create something for the City Girls.
"'he might have said one thing in the studio and they credit him.' I wrote the whole song, except J.T.'s last verse," Yachty said. "I know them personally, and I know what women like to hear. What's some like, raunchy shit? I just started saying it, and before I went in the booth I said 'no homo, y'all' because all my boys was in the room."
